Competitive Travel Grants and Prizes for Poster Presenters

The FIESTA 2010 organising committee is pleased to announce the release of up to six competitive travel grants for poster presenters to attend the 5th Innovative Foods Conference Travel grants of AU$1,000 will be awarded to up to three international and AU$500 to up to  three Australia / New Zealand presenters as selected on merit.   
International Grants have closed. 
Australia / New Zealand grant applications are open
until 11 June, 2010.

Travel Grants

Competitive travel grant applications are open to all authors submitting abstracts for poster presentations at FIESTA 2010, who at the same time are planning to present a paper for publication in the Innovative Food Science and Emerging Technologies (IFSET) journal after the Conference. If you would like to be considered for a travel grant you must complete the ‘Travel Grant Application’ details form at the SAME TIME as submitting your abstract. You will need to include;

Current Position: Eg: PhD student, Post Doc, Research Scientist, etc
Affiliation(s):
Biographical statement (Max 50 words):

The Scientific Committee will judge all poster abstracts and accompanying travel grant applications received on scientific merit and relevance. All candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application within 2 weeks of closing date.

Travel grant recipients must ensure submission of the full written paper by no later than Wednesday, 4 August 2010, (two weeks prior to the conference) in order to receive the grant. Papers will be refereed for publication after submission to IFSET. The expected length of the paper is between 2000 – 6000 words. 

Poster Prize Awards

For the poster session, up to 20 posters will be selected for short oral presentations, based on the evaluation of the abstracts submitted and will be considered for the Most Outstanding Posters Awards at FIESTA 2010. There will be a AU$500 prize for the Best Student Poster and an additional award for the Most Innovative Poster.

In order to be considered for poster awards, authors must submit a full written paper by no later than Wednesday, 4 August 2010, (two weeks prior to the start of the conference).
Papers will be refereed for publication in the Innovative Food Science and Emerging Technologies Journal after the Conference. Papers can be between 2000 – 6000 words.

Travel grant recipients may also be considered for poster awards. Poster awards will be judged on
1.    Poster; clarity and layout
2.    Poster; science content, quality and clarity
3.    Presentation; clarity and quality of oral presentation by a selected panel of independent judges.
